About This Special Issue
Over the past few years, the areas of Biophysics/Biomedical sciences are extensively growing across the world. The research has revealed the great potential in this field for combating various diseases like cancer, diabetes, hypertension, neurological, cardiovascular diseases etc. Biophysics is the main discipline which covers various other sub- disciplines which includes molecular biophysics, neuro biophysics, physiological biophysics, medical physics, nuclear medicine, gene and protein engineering, bioinformatics, etc. The application of biophysics in cancer biology for improved detection, diagnosis, prognosis, prevention or treatment of this disease is also well recognized. Another branch is Bioinformatics, which is widely used worldwide to investigate the structure, dynamics and thermodynamics of various bio-molecules in normal health and diseased conditions. This field is a link between theoretical and computational techniques to model and mimic the behavior of bio-molecules. Biophysics thus helps in understanding the development of various diseases at the genetic level as well as in formulation of different strategies for their cure. Advances in these areas have paved a way for the designing and development of drugs and medical technologies for the welfare of mankind. This special issue is to provide platform to the scientists to learn various advancements being made in the field of biophysics.
